Electra-Kill at Jet Lounge

Wednesday, October 29, 2008 Chasing the Muse…Tuesday Late Night at the Jet Lounge: Electra-Kill performing. I was there looking for my Muse. The crowd was thin but energetic. The weather was cold. Before the show I got a chance to have a drink with KILL X the guitar player for Electric Killaz. He was a fine piece of eye candy, Platinum blonde, white faced and big rose colored glasses. He was a nice though intense fellow, from Paris. Electra-Kill is the Cyber Chaotic band from the Underground of Paris. I love the French, and being an ignorant fool I expected the band to sound French. They sounded like tall surly Americans.

At the start of the show the lead singer, SAIDSO seemed a bit annoyed about something. Perhaps he wanted a bigger crowd (Tuesday after midnight, this is Houston). The people who were there seemed very happy to be insulted by SAIDSO. He frequently walked off the stage to sulk at the bar or to stomp on top of the bar. But don’t get me wrong. He was being classic rock and roll in your face asshole, I was eating it up. In response to occasional cat calls he told the crowd to shut up and would respond to heckling with insults to our mothers! He sounded so genuine, this jaded reviewer was delighted.

He would leave the stage while the band played on….go get a drink, or sit in the corner and mess with his shoes. The Music was great. A very solid drummer pounding out the songs. A fine guitar and base combo. And the surly singers in spite of his attitude, belted out the songs with powerful energy and hardcore attitude. They even managed a rousing version of Olivia Newton John’s Lets Get Physical. Nothing fake about this band. I hope the rest of the tour goes well and I recommend you come out on a cold Tuesday night if they happen to be in your town soon. Churlish. Brash. U.S. Tour The Death of Venus 292.
